If you like beautiful sunsets,
expansive lake views, and some of the nicest people on
earth, Hope is the place for you. On the North
shore of Lake Pend Oreille and just 12 miles from
Sandpoint, Hope was once a bustling railroad hub, which has since
settled into two unique cities, Hope and East Hope.
Be sure and ask the locals how to find Beyond Hope, really there
actually is a Beyond Hope. Nearby on the Hope Peninsula is the David
Thompson Game Preserve. You will almost certainly see grazing herds
of whitetail deer and gaggles of Canadian geese. In the fall and
winter Bald Eagles can often be seen resting in the trees along the
shoreline.
Also found on the peninsula is the
Sam Owen Campground, a highly prized area to camp. With over 80
campsites, a wonderful beach, and boat ramp, Sam Owen ranks as one
of North Idaho's finest settings. Incredible sunsets, deer strolling
through the grounds and incredible views make this campground a
place not to miss. There is also a great place for a picnic if you
don't wish to camp. |
